Dubai to Khasab is about 200 km by road. Your driver heads north through Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah to the Al Dara border, also called Tibat, then follows the coastal road along the cliffs into Khasab.
The driving itself takes around 2.5 hours. The border crossing adds 30 to 45 minutes, so with pickup, plan for 3 to 3.5 hours door to door. Al Dara is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. On UAE holidays and long weekends, though, the queue can push the trip past 4 hours.
If you’re joining a dhow cruise in Khasab, we usually pick you up around 6:00 am, so you reach Khasab port before the 9:30 am report time. Just after the border there’s a 24 hour petrol station with a small shop for snacks, and Bukha, about 15 km further on, has proper places to eat.
