What is Khasab Musandam?
Khasab is the capital of Musandam, a governorate of Oman that the UAE cuts off from the rest of the country. It sits on the Strait of Hormuz, about 200 km from Dubai, and you reach it through the Al Dara border in Ras Al Khaimah. Musandam’s fjords, with mountains dropping straight into the sea, are why people call it the Norway of Arabia. Our dhows and 4x4s take you to the places below.
Musandam Fjords
The biggest, Khor Sham, runs 17 km with cliffs straight into the sea and small fishing villages you can only reach by boat.
Wild Dolphins
Dolphins join the dhow on most days. We can’t promise them, but our crew knows where to look.
Telegraph Island
The ruins of a 19th century British telegraph station, and the first swim and snorkel stop of the day.
Seebi Island
No beach, but some of the clearest water in Musandam. A favorite stop on our full day cruise.
Khor Najd
A fjord you look down on from the mountain road above Khasab. The track down to the water is steep and needs a 4×4.
Jebel Al Harim
Musandam’s highest peak at 2,087 m. Our safari climbs to about 1,800 m to see fossils in the rock.

What We Run
Every tour runs on our own dhows and vehicles. At the beach, we set up the whole camp ourselves.
Dhows
Day dhows for 15, 30 or 60 guests and overnight dhows for 8, 20 or 30. Every dhow has a toilet, a shower and life jackets for all guests, so non-swimmers can join too.
Vehicles
From 6-seat cars to 50-seat coaches, plus 4x4s for the mountain safari, all driven by our own team. Each safari 4×4 takes up to 5 guests into the mountains.
Beach Camp
We set up the whole camp on a large stretch of beach at Saif Al Ghareeb, 15 minutes from Khasab by speedboat: tents, toilets, showers, lighting and tables. Open October to early May.

Is Musandam open to tourists?
Yes. The Al Dara border into Khasab is open 24 hours a day, all year. Our tours run daily from October to mid May, and on weekends from June to September.
How much do Khasab Musandam tour packages cost?
Shared dhow cruises start at AED 125 per person for a half day and AED 150 for a full day. The Khasab tour from Dubai with transport is AED 535 per person. Private trips are priced per boat or vehicle, from AED 700 for a mountain safari and AED 2,000 for an overnight dhow.
Do UAE residents need a visa for Musandam?
It depends only on your nationality. If your nationality needs an Oman visa, you pay AED 50 at the border, by card or cash. Every guest also pays the AED 35 UAE exit fee, by card. Bring your passport and Emirates ID, both valid for at least 90 days.
Can tourist visa holders join a Musandam tour?
Yes, if your nationality gets a UAE visa on arrival. You get the Oman visa at the border, then come back into the UAE on the same visa or a new one. Send us your nationality before you book and we’ll confirm.
How long is the drive from Dubai to Khasab?
About 2.5 hours of driving, or 3 to 3.5 hours door to door with the border crossing at Al Dara in Ras Al Khaimah.
Will we see dolphins?
On most days, yes. They are wild, so we can’t guarantee them, but our crew sails the routes where they are usually seen.
Is the food halal? Can we bring our own?
All our food is halal. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and food on any tour.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel at least 48 hours before a shared tour, or 7 days before a private trip, for a full refund. If we cancel because of the weather, you get a full refund or a new date of your choice.
How do I book and pay?
Send us your date and group size on WhatsApp. We confirm availability, and a 50% deposit secures your booking. The rest is paid on the day.
What documents do I need at the border?
A passport valid for at least 90 days. UAE residents should also bring their Emirates ID. We send the full checklist on WhatsApp once you book.
Can I drive my own or a rented car to Khasab?
Yes. Your own car must be in your name, or the owner must travel with you. Mortgaged or bank financed cars can’t cross. A rented car needs a No Objection Certificate for Oman from the rental company. Either way, you can buy Oman car insurance at the border.
Is it suitable for children and non-swimmers?
Yes. Life jackets are on every boat and swim stops are optional. Children 4 to 10 pay a child rate, and infants under 4 join day cruises free.
What is the best month to visit?
October to December. The water is warm and calm and the weather is settled. January and February are cooler on deck, and summer passes 40°C.
Can I book a private boat?
Yes. Private half day and full day dhows take up to 15, 30 or 60 guests, and the overnight dhow is always private. Tell us your group size on WhatsApp for a quote.
